Horatio Bridgelayer by Artraccoon Horatio Bridgelayer by Artraccoon
The Horatio Bridgelayer is a commission ( one of three so far...)by Steven Satak for his Battletech TRO project.

You can visit him and find out more here,

I decided to show the vehicle with and without the bridge so it's hull details could be seen and yet I could show off how the whole combo looks. The stats required that the vehicle be based on the classic "Galleon" tank, so the headlamps, roadwheels, sponson guns, hatch style and hull details follow that pattern.
The bridgelayer is otherwise much like modern tank based bridgelayers, and uses a "scissors" type folding bridge.
It also has a small troop bay in the rear that can carry a group of infantry or combat engineers, a rather unique feature, something that might be useful.
And, being a "Lee Madison artpiece", it features two cute female vehicle troopers...though very much toned down for the original draft at the request of Mr. Satak.

Personally, I'd love to have a set of these as gaming miniatures for my microscale SF army.

Thanks!!

Sorry, but there wasn't an R rated version, just a version featuring more mid-riff, lower shorts, and bigger busts.

So, now I get to see your underpaint technique! Nice - airbrush grey before your color layer. Very cool!

It's a fairly simple technique, and helps out some with digital jaggies.
I kinda nicked it from Doug Chiang.

They look like futuristic editions of Hobart's Funnies (specialty tanks from the European theater of WWII).

They are in a evolutionary way.
I basied them loosely upon the M60 AVLB, a modern( okay it was made back in late 1960s...but they are still around...) bridgelayer.

Being a Battletech meiliu it had to sport assorted laser cannons( as per client provided specs).

Thanks for commenting.

You really do have to download this to see the full size in order to appreciate the detail that went into this. Also, any army where the guys wear full battle rattle and the girls wear shorts and tank tops is all right by me!

Thanks for the comment!

The girls are vehicle crew so armor isn't worn unless they are going to be outside for an extended period of time.

Besides, it's good for troop morale and the artist loves drawing cute girls.
