The Martian Republic's forces employ the Chryse Aerospace FS-140D as the primary planetary defense fighter and interceptor. Armed with four pulse lasers, two plasbolt cannons, and various missiles, the craft is an excellent combat machine. Oddly, this fighter has few other users beyond the Martian military. A few have been employed by the Interstellar Axis, and some have been sold to sanctioned mercenary outfits. This FS-140D streaks into a higher orbit with the Isidis Sea viewable beneath it and the Utopia Bay above and behind the tail.
Design note: The X-15 was the inspiration for this craft, with additional wings and SF weapons and engines added.

Wouldn't an Aerospace Fighter for Mars need Bigger Wings than an Earth based ASF?
Mars Atmosphere is much thinner than that of the Earth's.
Or does it just Brute Force flight in Atmo via massive thrust and acceleration?
